9.13.16

We referred back to the circle map we made about what animal adaptations we would like to have.  Today we chose one that we wanted the most and we made a tree map.  On the branches of the map we wrote reason why we wanted to have this adaptation.

I am really encouraging us to write more than "because it's cool", "because I like it", etc.  This is very common at this age but showing a different way and modeling with more information, they should be able to do this by the end of the year!

We talked in depth about another type of adaptation, BLUBBER!  We discussed what animals have it and why they have it.

Then we pretended to have it!

Some of us decided that the water without the blubber glove wasn't that cold.  So we kept our hand in longer until we couldn't stand it anymore ;).

We all came to the conclusion though that the water felt significantly different with the blubber glove protecting our hand than without!

Several friends wanted to try this at home.  Check out this video if your family would like to do it! :)

We did a reflection on this activity!

 Exercise and count!
