I introduced our new unit today.
This whole unit is about how our past is related to now and the future. As a "HOOK" to introduce the unit we watched the first 15 minutes of the movie UP. It is a beautiful telling of 2 kids that meet and eventually get married and it follows them through till the wife dies. It is quick and done through music. If you have never seen UP, watch it for just this part. It is amazing to me about Pixar can tell such a wonderful story through animation and in only 15 minutes. We showed this because it really shows how things from the past influence choices for the future.
We wrote what we liked and wondered about the movie clip.
I introduced our central idea and we talked about what it means.
