How did the baby bird even know what the mother looked like since they had never met?
It didn't and it was confused on what to look for.
How did it know when it DID she it's mother that that was for sure her?
We watched this video of baby animals to see if we could figure out what animal it was.

Of course we could figure it out because we look like smaller versions of our parents and smaller versions of what we will look like when we are grown.

What is the same about first grade Mrs. Graves and teacher Mrs. Graves?  What is different?

We got hand mirrors and looked at ourselves.  What characteristics do you see in yourself?  Does anything you see look like your parents or anyone else in your family?

We listed different characteristics that we seen in ourselves.
What do you wonder about that?

We talked about ways to start stories.  We opened different books to see how these stories began.  They wrote their sentence down and shared it.  Then we sorted them by an opinion sentence, a question, or a sound.
